The World Cup Score Predictor Game

Hi,

I’m very glad to say the our World Cup Score Predictor game has exceeded my expectations with 105 players so far.

Win The World Cup!In case you’ve not seen it, it’s a game where I’ve picked out some matches from the World Cup and created a page where you can enter your details and your predictions. These are then calculated every time a relevant match is played and a league table published. You get 5 points for a correct score or two points for a correct result.

Although 5 matches have pass so far, it’s not too late to play. We’ll be running the competition right up to the final and with the leaders on 14 points out of a possible 25, no-one’s running away with it. Maybe it could even help to join late as you’ve seen how some of the teams are playing!

The game is split into the group stages, the round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals and the final/3rd place playoff. We’re not choosing every match as that would take you too long so we picked 11 games from the groups, we’ll be picking a certain number yet to be decided from the round of 16 and then every match from then on in.

The best thing about this game is the prize you can win – the replica World Cup you may well have held when you were photographed with Peter Shilton and Nobby Stiles at The Big Promo Gift Show! So why not give it a go?

You can keep up with the latest news on Twitter or on The World Cup Score Predictor website.

Talking of The Big Promo Gift Show, I’m in the middle of updating the website with all the photos, videos and news from the day. Keep an eye on the website over the next 24 hours and it will all be there for you to see. You can order your Peter Shilton and Nobby Stiles prints as well if you weren’t able to pick them up on the day.

If you’re already playing the game, good luck! If you’re not playing the game, why not?! It’s free and you can win a unique prize!

The Big Promo Gift Show – An Update

So it’s only 20 days to go until The Big Promo Gift Show at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. We’re looking forward to it here at LSi – it’s our big day where we can see all of you and show you some of the exciting new promotional products that are on the market.

We’ve had a great response with more registered attendees at this stage than for any of our previous shows. The seminars are being booked out fast and with only 66 places for each one you’ll need to register and put your name down soon if you want to be guaranteed a seat. Just to let you know, here’s how many seats are remaining at each one:

  • The Power Of The Medium – Looking Beyond The Product – 33
  • Driving Measurement With Every Marketing Pound – 9
  • Case Histories That Have Generated Huge Returns – 6
  • Maximizing Your Relationship with Your Account Executive – 50
  • The Power Of The Medium – Looking Beyond The Product (2) – 57

We’ve also got 59 penalty takers signed up for the Peter Shilton penalty competition. It’s likely that I’ll be running that on the day so if you’ve signed up or are going to, it will be lovely to meet you (my tip: put the ball hard and low into the left hand side netting with your instep – you can’t lose!).

After the penalty competition we’ve got a Guinness World Record attempt from the world champion freestyle footballer, John Farnworth. You can find out more about him and get a sneaky peek at his skills on our special guests page.

We’ll continue keeping you up to date on our twitter page and The Big Promo Gift Show website.

See you at the show!

Brand New Products On The Website

I’ve just put 10 new promotional products on the website and there’s a few that stand out for me.

Pocket Basic Notebook

The pocket basic notebook with pen is a fantastic product. Essentially, it’s a pad with a hole in it where you can keep your pen. The best thing about this is that you can match the branding on the pad to the pen giving a great coordinated feel to your promotion – and you should never lose your pen!

Non Slip Mobile Phone Holder

The non-slip phone holder is a bit of a star as well. You can literally put it on a flat wall and things will still stick to it like glue. It’s got a great branding area and will last for years. It’s the kind of thing people will show to their friends, the sticking qualities are that impressive.

They are my two favourites. This isn’t to say that the others aren’t any good, they’re great. They were chosen by our sales team from an array of hundreds of different products and were the ones that got the biggest response from our customers.

Vuvuzela

In case you haven’t seen them yet, there’s also a load of new promotional World Cup products on the site as well including footballs, face paint and the soon to be ubiquitous vuvuzelas. If you don’t know what they are yet, you soon will! I watched a fair amount of the Confederations Cup, held in South Africa a year or so ago, on TV and the noise of the vuvuzela was clear to hear. They have a central part in South African football culture, much like the Samba drums in Brazil, so if you want to be a part of the crowd, you’ll need one!

Another ‘in case you haven’t seen’ is that our Big Promo Gift Show website has been launched. The show itself is being held on 26th May and is based on a World Cup theme. We’ll be joined by Nobby Stiles and Peter Shilton, we’ll have seminars from Cliff Quicksell – one of the U.S’s most respected speakers in the promotional merchandise industry – and over 10,000 products on display from the old favourites to the new and innovative.

A quick Twitter account list now. If you’re on Twitter, why not follow us? We’re on as a company @promo_merch, have a dedicated Promo Gift Show account @lsibigshow, the boss, Lloyd, is on there @lloydsimpson and I’m on there @scottthewebdes. We’d love to hear from you.

A Little Update From The Web Designer

I’ve had an especially busy time of late, designing a couple of websites for a customer and a potential customer, designing the new site for The Big Promo Gift Show (out very soon) and already working on the LSi site for next year (even though the current site’s only been there a month or two… I never stand still!).

Generally speaking, whenever I create a new website I try to do something I’ve never done before. It may not be obvious to the user but it helps me develop. From the four sites mentioned above I’ve created a new layout style, created a new way of filtering products, found a new way of manipulating CSS to make it specific web browsers do what I want and am heavily playing with mySQL and PHP. If you don’t learn you’ll never get better. I don’t get as much time as I used to for pure learning and development work as I used to so I’m applying things on the job a lot more and testing them rigorously before deployment.

Apparently, the site I’ve done for our new potential customer was better than one that another promotional merchandise distributor did, which is nice, and is helping bring in the deal. The one for the current customer could well lead onto another 3 or 4 as they want one per range rather than a single one for everything they do. It’s be far the most advanced ordering site I’ve created so far using the system we use. Hard work but it’s more to show potential clients when we go to show them what we can do, isn’t it?!

A bit of LSi site news for you: I’ve updated the Who Are We? page on the LSi site to show a few old photos – if you want to see how Lloyd looked in 1995, that’s the place to go! New content for Our Aims and some new products will be coming soon.

Don’t forget that you can follow me on twitter @scottthewebdes.

Ta for reading!

Scott
